P.A.V.A. or Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide is a highly effective incapacitant that is currently used by over 60% of UK police forces with more converting annually. Civil Defence Supply Ltd is the only supplier of P.A.V.A in the UK and more and more police forces are seeing the advantages of using P.A.V.A. over CS and OS sprays.

Following full medical testing, in excess of that required for the introduction of a new drug, it was approved by the Home Office in 2004. The design of the jet or stream spray pattern ensures a projected jet range of 4-5 metres, which gives officers a useful reactionary gap when dealing with violent subjects. P.A.V.A. is completely odourless and will never damage clothes or skin. P.A.V.A. is absorbed through the mucus membranes of the body, which are primarily located in the eyes, nose and mouth. P.A.V.A. is NOT absorbed through the skin.

The non-flammability of the spray makes it safe to use alongside Taser™ and our Animal Control Shield. Due to the formula contained in our P.A.V.A. cans, you can rest assured that after use there will be minimal cross-contamination, both of objects and bystanders. P.A.V.A. can be easily washed away with water or a mild detergent.

P.A.V.A. is very versatile and can be used for may different applications including pirate defence systems aboard ships and on armoured vehicles. Also, dyes and syn-DNA can be introduced into the can for increased traceability.
